This recipe makes a great macro-friendly beef burger and it’s easy to build it to suit your own taste. I’ve kept it pretty simple as a base that you can build on, for example, you might want to add bacon, lettuce, relish etc.
Ingredients (makes 1 burger)
- 150g lean beef mince (try and get below 10% fat, preferably 5%)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cream cracker or some breadcrumbs
- Salt & pepper
- Parsley
- Cheese slice (optional)
- Brown crusty bap (here you can use whatever type of bread/bundy that you like to use with burgers. Just be conscious that brown is usually better than white to include some fiber in the meal and something not majorly high in calories)
Method
- Put the mince in a large bowl and season with salt & pepper.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and add half of it to the mince.
- Add half a teaspoon of dijon mustard to the mince.
- Sprinkle some parsley over the mince.
- Crush the crackers up in your hands until they are almost in a dust or breadcrumb sized pieces.
- Using your hands, mix all the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly.
- Shape the mince into your burger patty, making sure the mince is well compacted.
- Add a tablespoon of olive oil to the pan and turn to a medium/high heat.
- Add the burger patty to the pan and cook evenly on either side. Be sure to check the centre of the patty is cooked through before serving.
